Analyst: Biden likely to keep Mutual Defense Treaty and PH access to U.S. assets in South China Sea

As Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden inches closer to winning the White House race, Carlyle Thayer, Emeritus Professor of the University of New South Wales School of Humanities and Social Sciences, believes Biden will sustain efforts to maintain military presence in the disputed South China Sea and counter hegemonic claims in the vital sea lane. Thayer adds Biden will likely keep the Mutual Defense Treaty and Philippines' access to assets in the South China Sea.
